In a twist on normal procedures, President-Elect Inge-Lise announced that Judy Canby will succeed her as president for the 2018-2019 Rotary year.  After the announcement, we held an election to confirm it.  Congratulations Judy.

Chris Lowry, the President-Elect of the Solvang Rotary Club, gave us an eye-opening view of the War of 1812.  If you think our country is divided now, it was worse then.  The New England states opposed the war and did not send their militias to fight in it.  The war started because Henry Clay and others thought the British were so involved battling Napoleon in Europe that we could drive the British out of North America. The war dragged on for three years with nobody winning until a peace treaty was finally signed. A very interesting and informative talk.

A big crew of Los Olivos Rotarians showed up at the Buellton Senior Center last Saturday to finish up the kitchen expansion project.

And Dave paints the new wall.  He also added a fresh coat of paint to Ed's Shed, our project from two years ago.

 

Many thanks to everyone who contributed their time and effort, especially to John and Peter who did most of the work in the months long project.

 

It looks like next year's project may be another shed similar to Ed's Shed.
