Greetings to all at this beginning of our Rotary year. I want you all to know I am proud of our clubs continued success and am excited to lead the Los Olivos Rotary Club this coming year. We are a club of leaders and I will call on each and everyone in someway to put these skills to work benefiting Rotary and the people we serve.
Cindy and I had the pleasure of riding in Solvang's 4th of July Parade. We were escorted by the very experienced past president Gabi Robbins. Her presence made our journey relaxing and positive. We saw close to half of our club members watching the parade and cheering us on. It made us feel very welcome.
Looking forward to continuing our great work.
A Message From the Immediate Past President
First of all, thanks to all of the club members for entrusting me with leading The Little Club That Can and Does for the past year. It was an experience that I will truly remember and cherish! I am appreciative of all the support and help that you gave me. It is truly remarkable that a diverse group of people can come together and accomplish so much – only the Rotary spirit can make that happen.
Thanks to all of you that attended the demotion party – especially to Dave Lawrence for his hilarious(and sometimes true!) account of my time as a camp director. It was a great party hosted by past president Steve – Thanks!
Our club was honored by District 5240 as a Silver Club of Distinction for 2015-16. We were honored for our performance in the areas of Club Service, Community Service International Service, Vocational Service, Youth Service, Membership, and Foundation. This honor reflects all of your participation and commitment to Rotary.
In addition to all the local giving, as a Club we contributed $6,100 to The Rotary Foundation. Our goal was $5,000.
Again thank you all for allowing me to serve as your President. I know you will give outstanding support to John Mathews as our new President – after all, we are THE LITTLE CLUB THAT CAN AND DOES!!
From the Editor and Web Master
A list of all the cub officers, directors and committee chairs is published in the side panel of this week's bulletin. In the future you will need to go to the web site for this info. You will find it at the top of the left hand column. In the future, look for club events to in place of the list of officers. Be sure to check to see if you are listed in the Meeting Responsibilities list.
Most bulletins (including this one) will have one or two photos in them. If you don't see a photo near the top of this page, your browser is probably hiding it until you tell the browser to display images. There also may be links to photo albums such as the one Andy created for this bulletin. Be sure to click the link that has underlined text like
this.
This is a call for content. Send me your announcements that need publicity. While discussions of politics and religion are out of bounds in this space, announcements of events concerning them are welcome. Avenue of Service chairs are encouraged to provide current material for the website about recent past and planned activities for your Avenue. Some of the material now on the site is from the distant past.
